There's a story by Chekhov called Misery. A coachman driver and his old horse in the snowy cold street. All the driver wants is to share his story, his son passed away suddenly. The passengers go up and down the cab, people with different statuses, propfessions, classes and age. No one will listen to the driver. All he want is to share his pain. At the end of the day, he turns to attend his horse. He loves her, she loves him. Both in hard working life. He turns to her and he shares his story. His pain. I remember reading this short story in school. It stayed with me. Here is a link to the full text.
